Rhode Island Great Outdoors Pursuit

About the Game

Don't miss the fun! To play the Rhode Island Great Outdoors Pursuit, all you need is a minimum two-member team (one adult 18 years or older and one child under 18) and the desire to have a great time, all while discovering the beauty and activities in Rhode Island’s state parks and natural areas.

The Rhode Island Great Outdoors Pursuit is a ten-week contest that will have you decoding clues, discovering state parks throughout the state and participating in fun activities and challenges - all for a chance to win prizes. The game kicks off on Sunday, June 22 at Lincoln Woods State Parks in Lincoln. Teams are welcome to arrive anytime between 10:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. and enjoy the variety of activities planned for the day! The welcome ceremony will take place at 11:30 a.m.

You’ll receive clues about Rhode Island State Parks and Forests in your registration package or on the Rhode Island Great Outdoors Pursuit website –www.riparks.com - to help you figure out which park you need to visit next. At each park, you'll be asked to complete an activity - hike, fish, participate in a scavenger hunt and more. Teams will be awarded 10 points for each park visited. Five of the parks in the game require attendance on specific Sundays. To receive points for these "guided" events, teams must have at least one team member over 18 and one team member under 18 check-in at designated times and participate in at least one activity.

The remaining two activities in the game are "self-guided" events, meaning teams may visit these areas anytime during the weeks prior to the Grand Finale on August 24. To earn points for self-guided parks, teams must complete the designated activity and present the required proof-of-visit at the Grand Finale.

All registered teams are eligible to attend the Grand Finale on Sunday, August 24. Teams that visit and complete all seven pursuits will be eligible for the grand prize competition. Teams that visit and complete five of the seven pursuits will be eligible to compete in the 1st place prize competition. Teams that visit and complete four of the seven pursuits will be eligible to compete in the 2nd place prize competition. Employees who are members of RI Great Outdoors Pursuit planning committee or who supervise an employee who served on the RI Great Outdoors Pursuit planning committee are welcome to join the fun, but are not eligible to win Grand, 1st Place or 2nd Place prizes.

Good luck and have fun!
