Rhode Island Great Outdoors Pursuit
About the Game
Don't miss the fun! To play the Rhode Island Great Outdoors Pursuit, all you need is a minimum two-member team (one adult 18 years or older and one child under 18) and the desire to have a great time, all while discovering the beauty and activities in Rhode Island’s state parks and natural areas.
The Rhode Island Great Outdoors Pursuit is a twelve-week contest that will have you decoding clues, discovering state parks throughout the state and participating in fun activities and challenges - all for a chance to win prizes. The game kicks off on Sunday, May 31 at Lincoln Woods State Parks in Lincoln. Teams are welcome to arrive anytime between 11:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. and enjoy the variety of activities planned for the day!
You’ll receive clues about Rhode Island State Parks in your registration package, on the Rhode Island Great Outdoors Pursuit website –www.riparks.com, or in the Cardi’s Furniture newspaper advertisements on Sundays to help you figure out which park you need to visit next. At each park, you'll be asked to complete an activity - hike, fish, participate in a scavenger hunt and more. Teams will receive credit for each park visited. Five of the parks in the game require attendance on specific Sundays and one Saturday. To receive credit for these "guided" events, teams must have at least one team member over 18 and one team member under 18 check-in at designated times and participate in at least one activity.
The remaining activities in the game are "self-guided" events, meaning teams may visit these areas or participate in these activities anytime during the weeks prior to the Grand Finale on August 23. To receive credit for self-guided activities, teams must complete the designated activity and present the required proof-of-visit at the Grand Finale.
All registered teams are eligible to attend the Grand Finale on Sunday, August 23. Teams that visit and complete all seven pursuits will be eligible for the Grand Prize competition. Teams that visit and complete six or more pursuits will be eligible for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place prize raffles. Teams that visit and complete five or more pursuits will be eligible for 2nd and 3rd place prize raffles. Teams that visit and complete four or more pursuits will be eligible for the 3rd place prize raffle. Employees who are members of RI Great Outdoors Pursuit planning committee or who supervise an employee who served on the RI Great Outdoors Pursuit planning committee are welcome to join the fun, but are not eligible to win Grand, 1st Place, 2nd Place or 3rd Place prizes.
Good luck and have
fun!
