NAMES OF PREVIOUS OWNERS: Ida M. Haines

NAME ORIGINATION: The name was derived from the name of Ida M. Haines, owner and in memory of her brother, Dr. George B. Haines.

Haines Memorial State Park was established in 1911 when Ida M. Haines donated 83 acres of land to the Metropolitan Park Commission. The land was donated for use as a park in memory of her brother.
