Celebrating 100 Years! 1909-2009

On President Abraham Lincoln’s 100th birthday, February 12, 1909 the Metropolitan Park Commission of Rhode Island authorized the purchase of Rhode Island’s first state park- Lincoln Woods. In 100 years since, Rhode Island State Parks have evolved from a visionary plan to a statewide network of historic and magnificent greenspaces and greenways devoted to the public enjoyment of the outdoors.  More information and history can be found by clicking here.
